This third novel in the Darkest London series by far is the best. This story is about Poppy and her husband, Winston. It picks up several months after the end of the last novel where he leaves Poppy, feeling betrayed regarding her secret involvement in the supernatural world.
The book delves into the couple's story with flashbacks that tell us about their history. In the meantime, they have to reconcile their past and present in order to forge a future. There is intense emotional character development for both of the characters as well as intense story development and action. There were times where the pacing did seem to drag and the coupling scenes were a bit excessive to the point I was skipping pages to get back to the story.
I highly recommend this installment of the Darkest London series. It's emotionally intense with an equally intense storyline.
