I procrastinated on reading this one after trying to read one of the later Cynster novels that just didn't catch my attention. However, once I started, I couldn't put it down.
The trilogy plot involves a laird with scary eyes and a mad mother who is obsessed with ruining one of the Cynster sister (any would do). Oh, and the sisters are looking for special someone.
This particular novel involves Heather who is nearly declared on the shelf. She's been kidnapped before Timothy Danvers aka Breckenridge's eyes. And off we go into Scotland. The information gathering and the subsequent escape which leaves them running as fugitives dominates the novel. However, we also have of course elements of Heather and Breckenridge's relationship develop. All these elements are woven in nicely.
The part I could have done without was Breckenridge's outer body experience. Despite the whole Lady of the Vale mysticism, it still seemed very out of place.
