The beginning was engrossing as it developed Jake's character. However, it went downhill there after. It was also hard to believe he would turn out okay and not a serial killer or at least some sort of sadistic bastard due to his upbringing. There was also very little development between the two main characters thus no real chemistry. This novel is definitely a bodice ripper in the basest sense. I'm not sure if I'll continue to read this series and am a little disappointed since I loved her Ghostwalker series.
