I have mixed feelings about this book. It starts out as an irrelevant story about the author's journey into journalism in Japan as a foreigner and also about the relationship with the police. However, you already know the poop is going to hit the fan. It becomes riveting and I couldn't put the book down. Towards the end, I felt a lot was missing from the final story or as if there was a lot that wasn't said but implied. I also don't know how I felt about his womanizing. He was frank about it in the beginning but not so towards the end dropping hints. I really couldn't say that I approved since he was married with children but I realize the situation is far more complicated. Still, a very illuminating tale on so many levels.
